I was fixing dinner last night and my five-year-old, Bekah, was coloring at the kitchen table. Our conversation went something like this...
Me: "Bekah, I know that Heavenly Father can help you stop sucking your finger. Do you have enough faith that HE can help you?"
B: "Yes, Mom, I have faith."
Me: "Faith means we can pray to Heavenly Father and we know that He will help us. I know that if you ask for His help he can put thoughts into your head to help you remember to take your finger out!"
SILENCE
MORE SILENCE
B: "Mom, Santa Claus just put a thought into my head that I'm going to get an American Doll named Ruthi for Christmas!!"
So much for a spiritual teaching experience. Maybe our next family home evening lesson will be on WHO we pray to and from what source we receive these thoughts!!

That is one smart little girl. I'm sure Santa will want her to have it too! :)
I am laughing out loud! Can I just give you the web address right now, of where to purchase that doll? (I made the purchase last year...love them!) Jana, it is really fun to read your updates...thanks for sharing!
YEAH We are going to be at homecoming as well! Can't wait to see you guys. Are you bringing the kidlets? My girls would LOOOOVE to play w/ yours! (Can I say a "full circle" moment?!)
PS...Mikayla looks JUST like a Soelberg girl...have I mentioned that yet? They are all so adorable!
You've had another baby since I've seen you last. Congratulations. Great family picture.
Oh That's hillarious!! I guess we'll see you at Homecoming!! Yeay! It's always fun to have all the people come back. I can't believe you used to live here and we did too and now we still live here and you've moved twice! Ah, that's life I guess...
LOL, aren't 5 year olds great??
HILARIOUS!!! That was classic.
I miss your girls :-) Thanks for the laugh.
Bekah, you are too smart! Those long pauses from kids are when the wheels are turning. (Conor would totally say something like that!) We miss you..... (Today in conference someone quoted the scripture about building on rock or sand. I reminded Conor of the primary song & we tried to sing it. It made me also think of YOU, the best ever primary music leader!)
Janalee - the "swoopref" comment was me - jenifer - (Brian was logged on & I forgot to switch users). he he he he
We love Bekah and miss her so much! Brandon and I were looking through your blog tonight reminiscing about old times. We saw your new house and love it! Congrats! Can't wait to see inside pics! Oh, and by the way, we had a beta named Max too, but Mom changed the water and accidentally added to hot of water. I was thinking to myself, Wow, he is so excited to have clean water, and then a few minutes later he was upside down and motionless! Whoops!
awesome--I burst out laughing
Oooooh! cool Halloween background!
Nice one.
